Know Thyself

I know it’s not just me. People love doing personality quizzes and texts. I wonder why. Is it because people want to know about themselves? Do they seek some sort of label to attach to their selves?

Oh, and something I’ve thought about for a long time. When we do personality tests and the like, how can we be really sure we’re being honest? I mean, sometimes we can predict how an answer would lead to a particular result. I think when we have a certain view about ourselves, we subconsciously choose answers that we think will lead us to a desirable result. Does that make any sense? Okay let’s put it this way. Let’s say we think we are ambitious. When we fill out personality tests, surely we can see which answer will lead to the personality trait ‘ambitious’, so we tend to choose that answer regardless of how other answers suit us more. So personality tests are actually reflections of what we want to be and picture ourselves then, rather than how we really are?

One more thing. It’s interesting how people think light personality test are so true. I think such tests are just so vague and can be loosely interpreted that anyone can relate to them in their own ways. Just like horoscopes.

menarik. jadi gatel pngen komen, bole ya? hehe.

jujur, gw juga suka kok ngisi bgituan. tp mnurut gw, sbtulnya cara paling (mendekati) efektif: minta tolong org yg udh kenal deket buat ngisiin. yaa.. biarpun ngga spenuhnya akurat dan (kadang2) bukan ‘reflections of what we want to be and picture ourselves’, seenggaknya jd tau apa yg diliat (dan dinilai) org dr kita. dan (mungkin) sadar ngga sadar itu nunjukin ‘how we really are’

and it works (for me) in ‘personality plus’ test.

hehehehhe ya boleh lah del :P
gw juga seneng banget kok ngisi test2 gitu hehe.

hhmm menarik juga caranya, minta orang lain ngisiin. gimana kalo sama2 ngisi, yg satu ngisi sendiri, yg satu diisiin temen yg paling kenal kita? apa hasilnya bakal mirip? interesting.

I get your point :) ntar ujung2nya kita bakal bilang, “wah, cocok banget nih hasilnya!” padahal..hhe
