Never-Ending Story

Above every snob, there is another snob.

Be it for morals, musical elitism, intelligence or grammar, you can always see the signs and patterns. Heads held up high, mocking eyes, twisted smirks. Cryptic codes hiding pointing fingers, cracking laughter shared in frantic whispers.

They think they’re better than people who think they’re better than people who think they’re better than people who think they’re better… An unending cycle of self-righteousness.

Subjective hierarchies depending on who is feeling more smugly.

As I look at them with a mix of amusement and pity, I realize that I am not a mere observer as much as I am a part of that very cycle.

Truth is, we’re not better than everyone else. We just think we are.
